The leading provider of sports nutrition in the DACH region, known as Sportnahrung.at/ Sportnahrung.de, plans to implement its growth plans with a strong financial partner. To this end, the company has sold over 30 percent of its shares to the investment company HANNOVER Finanz in the course of a capital increase. Owner Konrad Kreid retains a stake of around 70 percent. The fast-growing sports nutrition specialist, founded in 1999 by the strength and martial arts athlete Johannes Mitteregger, wants to considerably strengthen its own financial power and further expand its branch network in the DACH region.
The market for food supplements in the DACH region is growing dynamically and comprises around 1.2 billion euros. This also includes the niche segment of sports nutrition with over 300 million euros. Sportnahrung.at/ Sportnahrung.de specialises in nutritional supplements for athletes and is represented by 11 branches in Austria, 16 branches in Germany and 12 franchisees. The multi-channel distribution concept includes online shops as well as distribution via food retailers, such as the REWE Group.
Owner Konrad Kreid and his team see further potential for the expansion of the branch network: "We are noticing a professionalisation especially in the hobby sports sector. In addition to increasingly better equipment, athletes are also focusing on conscious sports nutrition. For this reason, the demand for supporting dietary supplements is increasing. Sport and the associated awareness of the need to keep one's own body fit are now part of a general health culture. Our company also stands for this. The demand will continue to increase." Kreid, who has a degree in business administration, can also imagine growing through acquisitions. Currently, the company with its 100 employees has an annual turnover in the double-digit million euro range.
